In a segment that stood stagnant for several years the Tacoma was the only real midsized truck on the market and more than half of all midsized trucks on the market are Tacomas.  With the new upgrades from the GM pair and the rebuilt Nissan Frontier heading to market for 2016, Toyota responds with a Tacoma that offers more from the truck that has made the perfect balance of refinement, toughness, fuel mileage and style for many years.  Let’s take a look at what the Tacoma has to offer us for this new model year.

Just looking at the front of this new model gives you the feeling the Tacoma means business.  With plenty of great style features such as the shapely grill that gives the truck a menacing face along with large headlights and foglights on the front you certainly want to get out of the way if you see the Tacoma bearing down on you.  The five trim levels certainly help to give you a truck that you can choose what you want it to be and lets you have the right truck for the task at hand in order to enjoy some great driving and a ton of awesome adventure.

When you get behind the wheel and drive this beauty you immediately notice the enthusiastic way the truck wants to accelerate quickly.  Along with this the suspension and build makes the feeling of the Tacoma one that feels grounded to give you the control you want and the smoothness that makes a fantastic drive.  An upgrade you will notice is the fact that the cabin is quieter than ever before which gives you a place you can make into your own personal oasis which is where you can listen to the music you want form the great audio system.

What is the Tacoma?  The Tacoma is the most versatile midsized truck on the road today that offers a value many others don’t along with the capability to handle off road and on road challenges.  With the best payload in the class the Tacoma gives you the most for the price and lets you enjoy the setup you want.  This truck, like the Nissan, has been redesigned and given the opportunity to enter the market as a new truck with a new engine, transmission, quieter interior, capability, features and ability in order to have a great truck to enjoy.

Speaking of the engines, the Tacoma offers you two to choose.  The base engine is a 2.7-liter inline four-cylinder engine that offers you 159 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine is attached to an automatic or manual transmission to bring you a fuel mileage of 19 city/23 hwy mpg for the 2WD automatic, 19 city/22 hwy mpg for the 4WD automatic and 19 city/21 hwy mpg for the 4WD manual.  This is the same engine that was offered on the previous models and gives you a great truck with plenty of fuel efficiency to love.

The second engine is the new offering which gives you more of what you want in your midsized truck.  This comes from the 3.5-liter V6 engine that offers you 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine attaches to the same transmissions which offer you a fuel mileage of 19 city/24 hwy mpg for the 2WD automatic, 18 city/23 hwy mpg for the 4WD automatic and 17 city/21 hwy mpg for the 4WD manual.  With this added power you don’t lose anything in the fuel mileage with this powertrain which makes it the perfect engine for the ride.

Inside the Tacoma you see a variety of new high quality materials that allow the truck to be a highly comfortable place to drive this truck offers you plenty to love.  If you have the Double Cab model you will have plenty of room for the whole crew with seating for up to five to fit comfortably in the cab.  The control panel of this truck is easy to use and enjoy which allows you to have a great place to control and drive your truck from.  This is one truck that you will love to drive on the way home after a long day because it’s comfortable and quiet to give you time to think and get away from the world around you.

Looking to see how much your Tacoma is going to cost.  The base price for the SR Access Cab shows up at $24,200 for the base engine, the 4WD Limited Double Cab with the V6 shows up at the other end of the spectrum at $38,800.  This certainly offers you a wide range of pricing considering this truck offers you five trims to choose from and gives you a truck that still at its highest price comes in under $40,000 to be a great value for you to enjoy.

The standard equipment offered for the Tacoma includes a rearview camera, a basic version of the Entune connectivity system, an automatic limited-slip differential, eight airbags, a lockable tailgate, adjustable tie down cleats, 16-inch wheels, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel and a mount for your GoPro camera to allow you to enjoy documenting all your adventures in your Tacoma.  Even though the Tacoma does not come with rear disc brakes and all models have manually adjusted seats this is an awesome truck to drive and enjoy for daily riding and your work needs.

When you do want to upgrade the truck to take advantage of some of the different parts of the price range the Tacoma offers you a Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control feature, a hard tonneau cover, driver assistance items such as rear cross traffic alerts, rear parking assistance and blind spot monitoring, push button starting, Smart Key, Qi wireless charging, a tilt and slide moonroof, leather seats, Entune with a full suite of apps, a JBL sound system and heated seats all to make you more comfortable and improve your ride.  You know the Tacoma is the most trusted name in the midsized truck segment and with a build that you can make into your own truck at the five different trim levels you should come in and see what the Tacoma has to offer you from your local Toyota dealer.
