Can a Car Company Survive on Minimal Production?

One car company that made its way to the Geneva Motor Show came with three cars that are part of only twelve that this company has made over the past decade. It seems there wouldn’t be very many cars on the road if every automaker was this low on the volume of vehicles they make and some of the larger companies certainly can produce more cars than this in a single hour of a day, but this isn’t just any company these aren’t just any cars that came out to party in Geneva.

The cars that came to see what the Geneva show was all about are from Zenvo and this company has been around since 2004 building amazing supercars in the boutique company and in a hand built way. There aren’t any two Zenvo models that are the same, which isn’t saying much since there’s only a dozen of them in total so far. The TS1 GT showed up to give us a look at what a boutique company can do to make a 1163 horsepower beauty machine that you certainly don’t want to ever think about taking on the track in an effort to preserve what one of these rare beauties are.

Another of the Zenvo models that made its way to the car is the yellow factory development car that comes with a torque dial and a giant wing. Originally the Zenvo models were called the ST 1 and used twin turbocharging in the engine to give us the massive power offered but changed to the benefit of twin supercharging just last year in order to create a more powerful way to enjoy the ride and increase the power in the engine. Since 2011 eleven of these cars have bene built and sold to the few customers that Zenvo has had.

The TS1 GT uses a 5.8-liter twin supercharged engine that’s been developed in house at Zenvo that also uses a sequential injection and tow piece air to air intercooler to create the over 1,000 horsepower and 811 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is something you don’t get to see because it’s covered with tons of impressive carbon fiber. This engine is attached to a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission with an electro-hydraulic shifting which is another part of the Zenvo design which has also been built in house at Zenvo to give each car a unique and positive performance.

Ok, so why so few cars for this company? Each one of the Zenvo cars takes nearly 8,000 man hours to build and costs a starting price of $1.4 million. These cars are capable of reaching sixty mph in only 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 233 mph. The cars brought to the show were both impressive and insanely designed to give you the look and imagination you might expect from a low volume boutique automaker that has only built a dozen cars in ten years. Maybe the next decade will give us another dozen to take a look at and see how the company doubled in only twenty years.
