The movie Baby Driver features everything you want in a story. There’s action, romance, conflict, misunderstanding, and cars.
If you love cars, the 2006 Subaru WRX driven by the main character, Baby (played by Ansel Elgort), is one of the most fun and active cars you’ll see on the silver screen. This 2017 hit movie features a cast of characters that are up to no good with Baby (yes, that’s his real name) indebted to the boss and trying to pay back that debt.
How Does Baby Pay Back His Debt?
The debt Baby owes to the boss, played by Kevin Spacey is for a car that he stole from Doc (the character Spacey plays in the movie). As Baby works to pay back what he owes to Doc, he’s hired to drive the car for the bank robberies that Doc has planned. Baby is the ultimate Wheelman with sills that are incredible and concentration that can’t be broken when he’s behind the wheel.
Love Strikes in Baby Driver
As cool and composed as Baby seems to be during the movie, he can’t help falling in love with a local diner waitress while also taking care of a man who took him in during his early childhood. The man, named Joseph in the movie, played by CJ Jones, wants Baby to stop running heists and breaking the law. Both Joseph and the love interest of Baby are in being threatened by Doc during the movie.
Trouble in the Heist Game
The film takes a turn when one of the crewmembers that Doc hires goes rogue and causes the bank heist to fail. Baby has to take matters into his own hands and show this character that he isn’t going to take any guff from him. Unfortunately, Baby is mostly looked at as a handicapped but skilled driver that has a hearing problem and needs to drive with his headphones on during the entire time behind the wheel. The headphones help to drown out a constant ringing sound in his ears which is the result of a childhood injury.
The Car Chase Scene of Baby Driver
The movie, Baby Driver, opens with a car chase scene with three armed bandits getting out of the Subaru WRX to enter a bank and rob it. Baby is left in the car to wait like any good Wheelmen would do. During his wait, Baby listens to his music and enjoys dancing along. Once the robbery has taken place, the chase is on and Baby gets a chance to show off his driving skills as he outsmarts and outmaneuvers the police.
A Good Movie and a Great Car
If you like car chase and heist movies, Baby Driver is one you want to see and enjoy. If you love to see what a Subaru WRX can do, this movie is perfect for you. Enjoy the story, admire the action, and get mesmerized by the romance and the story that unfolds during Baby Driver.
