The Cadillac Celestiq Brings Home Two EyesOn Design Awards

This past July, GM unveiled a new show car called the Cadillac Celestiq. The goal was to show off this luxury brand’s upcoming all-electric sedan and build some excitement for the future of the Cadillac lineup. Not only did the Celestiq attract attention, but it also won two EyesOn Design awards.

The EyesOn Design Awards were handed out at the recent 2022 North American International Auto Show (aka The Detroit Auto Show). A panel of nearly two dozen leading automotive designers and educators determines which vehicles win the various design awards.

The Cadillac Celestiq won both the Best Concept Vehicle and Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, or Materials awards. Earning these two awards meant besting concept vehicles like the Buick Wildcat EV, Lincoln Model L100, Audi Grandsphere, and more.

There were several other notable EyesOn Design Award winners. The Best Production Vehicle went to the 2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3, and the Best Design Interior now belongs to the Audi Grandsphere.

The Cadillac Celestiq Show Car

The Cadillac Celestiq Show Car officially made its debut on July 22 with the goal of taking a more significant piece of the luxury car market. Cadillac designers found inspiration from past vehicles like the 1957 Eldorado Brougham. While the Celestiq pays homage to popular vehicles of the past, it also reveals a high-tech and sleek look that is the future of this American luxury brand.

Inside, passengers are greeted with bright red leather upholstery, a massive 55-inch digital dashboard, and Eames-inspired bucket seats. The best part is that the concept car isn’t just a concept; it is what drivers will actually get once production starts rolling out these impressive EVs.

Buying a Cadillac Celestiq is going to be a truly unique experience. Shoppers will design various elements of their EV upon ordering (similar to the Rolls Royce method of production). Each Celestiq’s assembly line will be managed by a small team who will hand-build each model. No other vehicle can boast such attention to detail and personalization.

Not only will the Celestiq be built to order, but there will only be a limited number of these EVs available. While this sedan won’t actually be available until 2025, early reports suggest that a base model will cost around $300,000. Of course, Cadillac claims that the sky is the limit when it comes to customization, so you could create a truly unique ride.

There isn’t a lot of definitive information about the Celestiq’s powertrain yet. Still, it is expected to offer two motors and similar performance to the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan. Luckily for the Celestiq, the EyesOn Design Awards aren’t concerned with performance. In regards to those awards, the Cadillac Celestiq has everything it needs and then some.
