Not all luxury SUVs are tiny crossovers that can barely tow 2,000 pounds. For example, the GMC Acadia towing capacity can be up to 4,000 pounds with the tow package and optional V6 engine. There are many such examples of luxury SUVs that are fully capable of towing various sizes of camper.
GMC Acadia
The GMC Acadia is a burly-looking luxury crossover with several trims and a few powertrain options. The base 2.0-liter inline-four engine is rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
However, for towing, you’ll want to upgrade to the 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The luxury trim for this model is undoubtedly the Denali trim. The V6 engine brings the GMC Acadia towing capacity up to 4,000 pounds.
Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer
Another unlikely duo of models also provides luxury and plenty of towing ability. Both SUVs have seriously upgraded interiors for the top trims. The Series III trim of the Grand Wagoneer has an interior that easily rivals a Land Rover.
The Wagoneer can tow up to 7,400 pounds, and the Grand Wagoneer can tow up to 8,260 pounds. Both vehicles offer luxurious interiors, but the Jeep badge won’t dramatically yell “luxury vehicle” at everyone.
Audi Q7
An Audi SUV is definitely one that does indicate luxury to everyone around it, so it might be hard to believe that the Q7 had a pretty hefty towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds.
Inside, the Q7 features luxury details like plentiful safety tech, LED lights, and three rows of seating with a lot of room. The Q7 is known for its long list of standard features in a price range of around $63,000 to start.
BMW X5 and X6
BMW is another easily identified luxury brand that you might not expect to have any decent towing capacity. However, the latest X5 in the xDrive45e trim can tow up to 7,200 pounds. It starts at a similar price range to the Audi at $65,700.
The BMW X6 is very similar to the X5, but it has a sleeker coupe styling. It can also tow up to 7,200 pounds when properly equipped.
Porsche Cayenne
Towing with a Porsche? It’s more likely than you might think. Even the base Porsche Cayenne is capable of towing up to 7,716 pounds. The Cayenne offers a few engine choices, from the lowest at 225 horsepower to the highest at 541 horsepower.
Obviously, the Porsche Cayenne isn’t cheap, with a starting price over $70,000 and going up to $171,300, but you can definitely tow with it if you want.
Land Rover Range Rover
Like the Cayenne, the Range Rover doesn’t come cheap with starting prices over $100,000, but it can tow up to 7,715 pounds. It was recently completely redesigned, so you’ll get the latest tech and luxury features, which include a reclining middle row.
The Range Rover provides seating for seven and a high-tech 4WD system that you can add for an extra cost.
GMC Yukon
The GMC Yukon is probably the most apparent workhorse on this list. With the Denali trim, it’s just as luxurious as its Acadia stablemate.
But compared to the GMC Acadia towing capacity, the Yukon is capable of towing up to 8,200 pounds. This makes it one of the highest towing capacities for any luxury SUV on the market.
The luxury segment of SUVs definitely provides some options if you want to tow a camper and ride around in refinement at the same time.
