A Dash Cam can be a useful tool to record your driving and provide you with a keepsake that you can thoroughly enjoy later. Garmin has announced they are releasing two new models of dash cams in order to give us a great way to look again at our driving. In many cases these are used only for track runs and off road adventures, but these two new versions can be installed for you and not only provide you video if you are in a collision, but one of the two models comes with a Forward Collision Warning System.
The Dash Cam 30 and Dash Cam 35 are built to save a 1080p or 720p recording upon impact with another vehicle or anything else such as a tree, mailbox, or whatever you happen to run into. This can be valuable footage for you to have in case of a dispute with insurance companies as you can easily show who was at fault in an accident, but it sure would be nice if these products could help you to avoid collisions altogether and one of the actually can do just that for you.
The Dash Cam 35 is equipped with the Forward Collision Warnings with does warn you when you are too close to a vehicle in front of you but the actual distance and readings are not yet clear. The hope is that the dash cam can understand when you are moving slowly and not at a faster pace. In slower moving traffic you should be allowed to be closer and if the camera is continually alerting you to being too close when you are at low and safe speeds you certainly won’t want this feature activated for long, which would defeat the purpose.
The Dash Cam 35 also has alerts for red lights and speed cameras to help you know how you can drive and avoid running through a red light, especially one with a speed camera attached to it. While these features will not be available in all areas, these will be in some and help you to drive safer in your area. The Dash Cam 30 is expected to cost $169.99 to the price of your vehicle and the Dash Cam 35 is expected cost you $199.99. With these features added to your vehicle you will certainly be able to feel more secure in case of an accident.
In the case of the Dash Cam 30, which does not have the added features it will be an item you will hope never has to activate but will be glad if it does when you are in a collision. On the other hand, because the Dash Cam 35 has these extras, it could mean you have a new lifesaving device or one that starts to get on your nerves immediately after you start driving your car, making you wish you knew how to disable it, which defeats the purpose of the item; let’s hope it’s the former and not the latter.
