What could be better than a new car with the odometer reading very close to zero miles, fresh fluids in all the reservoirs and a brand new car smell and feel. The only thing in life that might smell quite as nice is a brand new baby after a bath, but that’s just a personal opinion. Each fall we get the pleasure of seeing what automakers have come up with to entice the hard earned money out of our pockets to pay for a new vehicle. As the fifth installment in this series, here are ten more models that are sure to have something special for you for the 2016 model year.
Chevrolet Malibu – The new models being offered across the board are lighter and use better engines, which is certainly the case with the new Malibu as well. This car will also give you and upgraded version of the Chevy MyLink infotainment system and comes with every available driving assistance package you can think of. The redesigned Malibu is certainly a fantastic family sedan which is new and gorgeous.
Chevrolet Sonic/RS – With a year or more until the new Sonic will arrive this model for 2016 comes in with very minor upgrades. The MyLink will be standard on LT models and the six-speed automatic is now standard on the LTZ model. The added colors include Nightfall Gray Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic and Kinetic Blue Metallic. As a very popular choice in sedan or hatchback style, the Sonic is a fantastic car.
Chevrolet Spark/EV – Updated for 2016 the Spark offers a more mature look than the previous model. With a longer build and a lower to the ground stance the Spark is still a fantastic city car that offers more room for you and your stuff along with plenty of great technology to keep your passengers entertained. The Spark is even safer than ever before with a stronger build that rides on a stiffer frame of protection.
Chevrolet SS – The SS has been the best kept secret when it comes to power and performance in a family sedan. When you want to have the car that will keep your family safe but also allow you to unleash a beast within whenever you can, the SS is the right choice. With the right RWD capabilities and sporty performance from underneath, this might just be the getaway car of the century.
Chevrolet Volt – With an extended range for the EV portion of the powertrain and an overall weight loss of nearly 250 pounds, the Volt is a great choice with a 400 mile overall range, 50 of it on EV alone. If you are a city dweller and don’t fancy the hatchback lifestyle, a Volt is actually a hatchback that looks more like a sedan than some of the others do. At $33,995 you won’t find a better hybrid powertrain.
Chrysler 200 – This model comes into 2016 with only minor changes which are to add Ambassador Blue leather on the 200s and Mocha leather on the 200C models, otherwise you will be riding in a car that is the same as the previous year, which isn’t a bad idea at all. The 200 is a comfortable ride that certainly looks much more expensive than it really is, but you don’t have to tell anyone that little tidbit at all.
Chrysler 300 – The refresh for this big beauty was completed last year and it will then carry forward with very few changes. As a large sedan the 300 receives a multitude of compliments each year for its comfort, style and features. The 300 is a car that drives more mature than others and has systems that certainly are in place to help you have the driving experience you want instead of adjusting to the car.
Dodge Challenger/SRT Hellcat – 2015 was a record year for this car in the SRT Hellcat and Scat Pack models which means there won’t be many changes if any at all. One of the features that many have enjoyed on the Challenger is the offering of a manual transmission, which has been left off for the Charger. This throwback style that reminds us what muscle cars are supposed to look like will gain a great following once again this year.
Dodge Charger/SRT Hellcat – I could almost just put ditto on the line for the Charger as it has had an amazing run so far and only more success is expected. The Charger does offer a few models that are great for making this a family sedan; although I wouldn’t recommend it with the SRT Hellcat engine unless you are very careful to monitor which color key fob is being used by other members of the family.
Dodge Dart – The Dodge Dart is one of the few value players in the entire FCA lineup of vehicle and continues on an s a dynamic riding and sporty sedan that can give you plenty of fun and a great ride at a price you can afford. It is due for an upgrade soon, but the version being offered for 2016 has some fantastic features and characteristics that have it firmly in a great position in its segment.
And here we have ten more vehicles coming to dealers very soon for the 2016 model year. What kind of customer are you going to be? Do you want the awesome raw power of the SRT Hellcat engine or do you lean more toward the fuel efficiency of a Volt or Spark? Stay tuned for the next ten new models very soon.
