Insurance Deals that are Just Awful

When you purchase a vehicle part of the equation is always the cost to insure the item.  Insurance protects everyone involved, especially when you have made the purchase in a way that sets up payments for your new vehicle, but some insurance quotes and prices have you wondering what the insurance companies are thinking.  The answer to this in the interest of the insurance companies is surprising, some of these vehicles are high on the list to be stolen and when I show you which vehicles they are you might be shocked and get a chuckle out of it.

These are the five most costly vehicles to insure according the insurance reports.  What makes them the most expensive is the cost to insure versus the cost of the vehicles to start with.  With three of these vie on the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s annual Hot Wheels report we see them as part of the top ten most stolen vehicles in the US.

Chevrolet CruzeYes the Cruze is attractive, a bit sporty, but for the most part it’s a small sedan for hauling the family around which makes you wonder why a car that only costs $19,695 on average costs $1,318 to insure.  This is a ratio of 6.69 percent of the overall cost but the fact the Cruze is one of the three that make the most stolen vehicles in the US is why it costs so much to insure.  When you choose to purchase the Cruze make sure you keep this in mind before you buy so you don’t end up in an insurance hole you can’t seem to afford.

Honda CivicThis one might not surprise you as much as the Cruze, but it’s still a wonder why a small sedan is a high cost insurance vehicle.  The Civic is not even listed as one of the most ten stolen vehicles in the country, but does cost you $1,368 to insure with an average price of $19,910 creating a percentage of 6.87 percent.  If you don’t want to pay this much each year for insurance you certainly can look for a different vehicle to purchase even though the Civic has been a popular model for over four decades.

Hyundai ElantraThe Elantra is a fantastic looking vehicle with artistic worthy styling and excellent fuel mileage.  This is an attractive vehicle that offers the right feel and features.  Hyundai has a reputation for filling their cars full of features that we want, which tends to add to the insurance cost of this vehicle.  The average cost to insure is $1,384 and the Elantra has an average cost of $19,085 which is 7.25 percent for the ratio making it a costly car to insure.

Toyota CorollaThis should surprise you, but the Corolla is one of the most stolen vehicles in the US and is the second worst car to insure.  As a compact sedan it may be a huge surprise you have to pay $1,400 to insure a car that only costs $18,665 which results in a 7.5 percent rate.  Most shoppers buy the Corolla thinking it will keep their costs down but it actually is highly expensive to insure this car.

Ford FocusThe Focus is a good looking compact sedan and hatchback that is one of the favorites for commuters.  It’s also a favorite among thieves and shows up at a cost of $1,391 to insure a car that has a starting price point of $18,045 which is a massive 7.71 percent.  This may be a huge surprise to you, but the insurance costs have much to do with how often this car is stolen.

These five are cars that are meant to be affordable, efficient and great for a growing family to enjoy, but it can be difficult to enjoy the drive in one of these cars when you know how much you have to pay for insurance.  With three of them as popular models among thieves you might want to check out other models and their insurance rates before making your final purchase.
