The Kia Niro EV Shows up in Las Vegas

Kia showed up at the 2018 CES  in Las Vegas to give us a look at the new Kia Niro EV.  This vehicle is revolutionary and ready to drive.

As the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show opened up in Las Vegas one model made its way across the stage to simultaneously complete a trio of models that are offered with alternative fuel sources and create smarter goals for the brand it comes from.

This new model is one that will join the lineup that includes models such as the Sportage, Sorento, and Optima and it is the new Kia Niro EV. This vehicle showed up, as promised in order to provide us with a model that will join the Niro Hybrid and Niro Plug-In Hybrid that have started the forward movement for the brand.

New Driving from Kia

If all this new Niro had was an EV powertrain, this wouldn’t have been the show to bring it out, but this model also offers the next step in the electric journey for the brand with the inclusion of the new Human Machine Interface (HMI) and the advanced new “motion graphic” lighting system that gives us improved technology for the drive.

Those in attendance at this show were able to take a look at three interactive cockpit-style exhibits that show how this new technology can be incorporated into the vehicle and bring the first 5G connection in this car.

Boundless For All in the Kia Niro EV

This is the term used for the Kia models that came to CES 2018 as this becomes another of the brands in the market that is ready to look toward the future of mobility and transportation for the drive. In addition to the new Kia Niro EV there was a model that showed off the new “ACE” strategy which stands for Autonomous, Connected, and Eco/Electric strategies. This new model shows the direction this brand is headed and what they have planned for the future of the driving and mobility we need.

Kia is Working Toward Autonomous Driving

One of the goals that Kia shared is the plan to commercialize Level 4 autonomous driving with “Smart City” autonomous vehicle testing which will begin in 2021. By the end of 2025, we will see connected car technologies across every segment from Kia, if all goes according to plan, and every model from all automakers by 2030.

This brand also shared the goal to introduce sixteen new advanced powertrain vehicles by 2025, with a range of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and EV models along with several new fuel cell vehicles that will arrive as early as 2020.

Unlimited Technology in the Kia Niro EV

The technology isn’t limited to the safety and propulsion systems of these vehicles either. The team is working to develop a new UVO Agent that will be compatible with Kia vehicles and with the Google Assistant to make it easy to communicate with your vehicle by using your smartphone.

Imagine a world where you can say “Tell UVO to start my Optima EV” and the UVO system will do just that so your car will be ready for you when you head outside to take a ride. With the level of advanced technology being offered from Kia, it’s easy to see why they had a booth and the new Niro EV at this show.
