2024 Kia EV9 vs. EV6: Electrifying Choices Compared

As Kia rapidly expands its selection of non-gas-powered vehicles, drivers get to benefit from innovative vehicles that are not only more efficient, but more eco-friendly. Two of the newest additions to the 2024 Kia EV lineup are the EV6 and the EV9. We can probably deduce that the EV6 is smaller than the EV9, but where else do these EV differ, and how are they similar?

We’ll Start with the Kia EV6

2024 Kia EV6

The EV6 is a compact SUV with an electric powertrain. It has room for up to five people in two rows of seats. Since it does fall into the compact SUV category, when you’re behind the wheel, it will almost feel like you’re driving a car. It has a good amount of cargo space for a small SUV with 50.2 cubic feet of space if you fold the rear seats down.

How About the Kia EV9?

The EV9 is a brand-new addition to the 2024 Kia EV lineup. This larger electric vehicle has three rows of seats and room for up to seven people. If you’re looking for an electric people hauler, this is the EV for you. For those times when you don’t have as many passengers and you can fold down the rear seats, it can haul 81.9 cubic feet of cargo. Get ready to pack some serious luggage back there if you don’t have to haul people.

How Far Can I Go?

Since we’re talking about electric vehicles we need to talk about range. The EV6, with the standard motor that generates 225 horsepower, can go up to 310 miles on a full charge. That’s plenty of miles for the average day trip, even if you’re headed out of town.

The EV9 has a larger battery, which is not a surprise, because it has to power a larger vehicle. The standard battery will keep you going in the EV9 for up to 300 miles if you start with a full charge. Like the EV6, if you plug the battery into a DC fast charger, it will get you up to 80 percent pretty quickly. The EV9 also has some extra horsepower, especially if you opt for the dual-motor setup. It will get 379 horsepower that you’ll feel as soon as you press on the accelerator.

There’s Lots of Tech in Both Kia EVs

While both the EV6 and the EV9 come loaded with tech, it looks a little different depending on which one you’re sitting in. The EV9 has some traditional button controls to go along with the touchscreen, but the EV6 has a sleek, flat touch buttons for the climate control and the music. You’ll get an onboard generator in both the EV6 and the EV9 that allows you to use your vehicle to power external devices. This can come in handy on camping trips or when you’re tailgating.
The 2024 Kia EV lineup has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for compact or you need a larger people hauler.
