Some Sedans Might Not Make It

Even though passenger sedans have been the most popular segment of the automotive world since it began, it seems that SUVs are taking over another part of the market.
Not long ago, SUVs began to push out the minivans that we loved to drive for family hauling and now it seems the smaller models of the SUV market are taking over where sedans and other types of passenger cars have been. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few cars that are probably not going to make it past the 2019 model year.

Chevrolet Sonic

The middle of the hatchback lineup from Chevrolet has been a car that some admire and enjoy, but most have overlooked. This is a car that is a bit of a surprise that it’s still on the market, but the discontinuation of many of the cars from GM will make it possible for this car to be killed off in 2019 or by 2020 at the latest.

Chevrolet Spark

Anything said about the Sonic can also be said about the Chevrolet Spark. This slow-selling small hatchback has been a great choice for those looking for their first car, but it will likely meet the chopping block and will no longer be offered after 2019. It’s too bad the Spark and Sonic won’t make it; it seemed like it was time for Chevy to turn one into a hot hatch.

Lincoln MKZ

The Lincoln MKZ has been the sedan to carry the brand name for several years until the Continental arrived. While it seems a bit of a surprise that this sedan continued on after the rest of the Ford sedans were deleted, it will likely be gone after this year. The Continental will live on for at least another model year, but it too may face extinction once again.

Cadillac CTS

This model comes as no surprise as Cadillac had previously announced the deletion of the ATS and CTS for the near future. The CTS might be able to stick around for another year or two, but after that it will be gone. The upcoming CT5 crossover SUV is still in development, but once it arrives the CTS won’t be around at all. While you may not see this sedan around much longer, you can still find sedans like the Cadillac XTS to enjoy your luxury performance ride.

Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

The team at Alfa Romeo already deleted the Coupe model of the 4C, and the Spider model might be next to go. The car that brought the Alfa Romeo brand back to the US and gave it the foothold needed won’t be offered much longer. If you’ve had your eye on one of these cars, it’s time to buy it now.

Fiat 500L

No one will lament the extinction of the Fiat 500L for the US market. This has been one of the ugliest vehicles offered with its odd shape and size. The rumor mill tells us that the entire Fiat brand might not be offered in North America for much longer and it’s likely that dealers will be glad to have these vehicles off their lots.

Fiat 500

While this small and active car is one that certainly does fit itself and gives us an attractive little Italian model to choose, it will likely not make it past the 2020 model year. The Abarth versions upgrade the sportiness and fun you want to have and if you’ve been looking to see what the new Fiat items will be, you need to stop waiting and buy one of these cars today.

Fiat 500X

As a small and impressive SUV that has the off-road chops you want and the fuel mileage you enjoy, the Fiat 500X won’t likely make it past the next two model years. This vehicle is one that has the affordability and features that we love, but not enough are sold to make it a model that will remain.

Nissan 370Z/370Z Spider

For the past few years, the Nissan 370Z has been discussed as a car that might not make it to the next model year, but every year it somehow shows up. The 2020 model year might make it the final year this car is offered for us to enjoy on the roads that we travel every day.
