The New Range of the BMW i3

The new BMW i3 will offer you an estimated 153 miles on a single charge. This increase in range is a serious difference from the 115 miles that were offered in the past. The new battery pack has an energy of 42.2 kWh which is up from the 33.3 kWh for the 2017 version of this car.

The Sameness of this BMW EV

When you have more range, you expect to have a much larger cell size offered for you to have the drive you need. BMW was able to increase the range of driving distance and the power offered while maintaining the same number of cells. This means the same eight modules and twelve storage cells are offered as before, but the amp-hour figure has increased for each of the cells from 94 to 120. This is the next logical step for this car, and if you remember the original i3 battery, it only had 60 amp-hours, which means you can see how this car is being improved every time it’s changed.

Another Way the BMW i3 is Still the Same

While the range offered for this car has been increased, the power offered is still 170 horsepower in the standard models with the sportier versions giving you 181 horsepower for the drive. While this power is the same, the new i3 now brings you a new exterior color that’s called Jucaro Beige Metallic with Frozen Gray accents and a new interior upholstery theme. This car is also equipped with full LED headlights with cornering capabilities.

We don’t have the pricing numbers for the new i3 just yet, but this information will become available as the time for this new car comes ever closer. The new i3 will enter production in November after which it will begin to arrive at dealers around the world.
