Now that we see the Hyundai Palisade on the market, the Hyundai Santa Fe is only offered with five seats in the compact crossover SUV class. This means there are two 2020 Hyundai SUV models sharing this class; the Santa Fe and the Tucson. The Tucson is on the smaller side of the market while the Santa Fe makes its way near the top in terms of size. With that in mind, you’ll want to figure out which one of these two compact crossovers you should drive when it’s time to head out on the road.

Powertrains in these 2020 Hyundai SUV Models

The smaller Hyundai Tucson has two different powertrains for you. The base version is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 161 horsepower and 150 lb.-ft. of torque. You can also choose the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes more power and more torque. Both of these use a six-speed automatic transmission. Move to the Hyundai Santa Fe and you’ll have a 2.4-liter engine making 185 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque while a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine offers 235 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. With these two engines, you’ll have an eight-speed automatic transmission to give you the drive you desire.

Fuel Mileage

Choose the smaller powertrain for the Hyundai Tucson and you have 23 city/30 hwy mpg while the larger powertrain gives you 22 city/28 hwy mpg for the drive. The AWD models do reduce the fuel mileage when you add this to your vehicle. Select the Hyundai Santa Fe and you have 22 city/29 hwy mpg with the 2.4-liter engine while the turbocharged engine offers 20 city/26 hwy mpg for the drive. You can see the Tucson offers a higher rate of efficiency if this is one of the most important factors for you.

Cabin Room in these 2020 Hyundai SUV Models

Get inside the Hyundai Tucson and you’ll have front-row headroom of 39.6 inches and legroom that measures 41.5 inches. The legroom offered in the rear measures 38.2 inches and the overall passenger volume comes in at 102.2 cubic feet. The legroom measures 44.1 inches in the front and 40.9 inches in the rear with a total passenger volume of 110.7 cubic feet. The Tucson is comfortable, but the Santa Fe does give you more room to move around.

Cargo Carrying

You can carry up to 31 cubic feet of cargo in the Hyundai Tucson when the rear seats are up and 61.9 cubic feet when the seats are folded. This SUV can tow up to 2,000 pounds to have more gear where you need it. Let the Hyundai Santa Fe be the right model for you and you’ll have 37 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats with 71.3 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. The turbocharged engine of this model can give you a tow rating of 3,500 pounds to make it easy to bring more stuff.

Technology in these 2020 Hyundai SUV Models

Every model of the Hyundai Tucson comes with a seven-inch touchscreen that makes it easy for you to connect using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The Ultimate trim has an eight-inch screen and wireless device charging. If the Hyundai Santa Fe is the model you want to drive, you’ll have the same technology as the Tucson with the eight-inch screen being offered at the Limited trim. This means you can select either of these SUVs and know that you’re going to have a variety of amazing technology features that make sense for you.
