Ugly and Appalling Cars are Everywhere

Ugly and Appalling Cars are Everywhere

While there are some appealing features to nearly every vehicle on the road, some wear features that are simply ugly and appalling.

Some of these cars are ones that we’ve admired for several years and others are simple designs that shouldn’t have made it past the drawing board. The vehicles on this list truly do prove that beauty is in the eye of the beholder because these models all made it past the drawing board and became part of the automotive landscape.

Chevrolet Camaro SS

Straddling the line between polarizing and downright ugly, the Chevy Camaro SS is a car that has a front end that’s been chopped up to look different. It appears the Chevy design team was working to give us something unique, and they did, but it’s not something we like. The butchered front end will be gone after only one year because of the feedback given.

Honda Civic Type R

How many lines and angles do you need in a car? The Honda Civic Type R proves that no number is too high for this car. While we’re not sure if this car was designed to avoid radar signals or to cut through the air, it does seem that Honda forgot that curves exist and can be used in a car design.

Toyota C-HR

The Toyota brand has been one that has been guilty of adding polarizing looks to vehicles and the C-HR didn’t make it past the design table without some of the elements that many of us don’t approve of. The front has too much going on and the look of the sharp lines makes this a small SUV that needs some softening to look like it would appeal to the masses.

Bentley Bentayga

It might surprise you to see a Bentley on this list, but the Bentayga has a set of strange rear fender lines, large front overhangs, and at all grill that’s much bigger than most. This might not be the look you want when you spend the money that it will cost you to have a Bentley be the SUV that you want to drive on the roads and out on the trails.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

While we’re still upset that the Eclipse name was used for an SUV, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross doesn’t win any beauty contests at all. This vehicle has too much up front with a gaping mouth under the grill and a rear end that reminds you of one of the ugliest vehicles ever made, the Pontiac Aztek. This isn’t what you want to think of in any vehicle.

Buick Encore

The youthful exuberance of the Buick brand has not escaped scrutiny. This subcompact SUV is one that looks stubby and squat on the road to give us the reminder that we need to buy potatoes for dinner. The face is generic and doesn’t excite us at all. Thankfully, the Buick Encore does offer us the premium build and qualities we want.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan

You might look at this big and brutish SUV and wonder how Rolls-Royce got it wrong. The Cullinan is big and boxy, which we have come to know from Rolls, but it doesn’t give way to any curves or lines that will make us feel like it has the style we want to show off. Thankfully, there’s a set of suicide doors to let this beast feel like it’s a gangster car.

Honda Clarity

You might not know much about the Honda Clarity, but when you see it you might not want this car at all. The front end has too many lines and sharp angles. The body does show some flowing curves and lines with a roofline that swoops back. Unfortunately, the combination of these design elements doesn’t make this an attractive choice at all.

BMW i3

As a small hatchback that’s a luxury electric car, there’s a lot packed into this little car and some of it probably should have been left out. The squat and pushed in the front end looks ugly and the too-tall stance makes this car appear to be a model that could quickly tip over and cause you to feel it’s hard to drive. In reality, it’s a good car, it just looks ugly.
