In a true “you got peanut butter on my chocolate” moment, game maker Psyonix is pairing up with the Ford Motor Company to create a brand new vehicle: The Ford F-150 Rocket League Edition. Instead of only being able to virtually drive this pickup in the popular multiplayer game Rocket League, fans will be able to take this truck into reality. Ford dealers all over the country are already getting reservation requests for this innovative truck. Contact your local Ford dealer to find out how you can make one yours.
Rocket League Brought To Life
Rocket League is a popular multiplayer arcade-style soccer game where the players are various vehicles. Players can customize their cars before galivanting around the different settings to play one of the most action-packed and insane soccer-style games ever imagined.
The real version of the video game-based Ford F-150 is meant to look just like the virtual version of this powerful truck. It includes many aesthetic features to mirror the game, like rocket vents, a taillamp, 37-inch tires, and a truck-mounted rocket booster. Ford enthusiasts will notice that the Rocket League F-150 has a wider stance than anything else in Ford’s lineup.
Ford made sure to keep some of the F-150’s most iconic styling and performance features as well. You’ll still see things like C-shaped headlights, the script “F-150” across the tailgate, and rounded wheel arches.
This special edition F-150 also comes with the dependability and capability you’ve learned to expect from Ford. If you’re a gamer, this special edition F-150 might just be meant for you.
This Isn’t Ford’s First Rodeo
The F-150 Rocket League pickup truck isn’t the first time that the Ford Motor Company joined forces with a game developer to bring something new to life. Take a look at Ford’s e-sports team, Team Fordzilla, and you’ll see another recent creation, the P1 Virtual Race Car, that was turned into an actual reality vehicle as well.
Bringing virtual trucks to life is just one way Ford is shaking things up in the auto world. Ford dealers across the country are busy taking orders and showing off some of Ford’s other amazing creations. Not only is Ford bringing the famous Ford Bronco back into production, but it’s also releasing a fully electric pickup truck called the Ford Lightning. Drivers are also excited about the new mid-size Ford Maverick and electric Mustang Mach-E SUV.
Stop by the west hall of McCormick Place at the Chicago Auto Show to see the Rocket League F-150 in-person, alongside other great up-and-coming inventions by Ford.
