The pairing of James Bond and Aston Martin has been as iconic as peanut butter and jelly on a sandwich, giving us some iconic films to watch.

You expect every film featuring our favorite British agent to also feature one of the iconic cars from a brand that always finds a way to take our breath away. The latest film will feature four models, some classic versions, and some advanced modern applications of the Aston brand.

To date, there have been 25 Bond films, and nearly half of them have features at least one car from this brand. Let’s takea look at some of those cars that have been driven by 007 himself.

Aston Martin DB3

The Novels Brought the Pair Together

The James Bond films are based on novels by Ian Fleming, who introduced us to some of the models in the books. The first car that was driven by the hero was Bentley, but that was quickly replaced in Goldfinger by the Aston Martin DB3. This took place after a suggestion from a fan,and it began the marriage that has become one we’ve admired for many decades.

The Fleming novels were first released in the early 1950s, and in them, Bond drove a DB Mark III, but that wasn’t the car that would make it to the film versions. It’s interesting to note that this marriage began on the pages of the books and continued into the films.

Aston Martin DB5

The film version of Goldfinger came out in 1964,and it was the first time we were introduced to the DB5. This car instantly became the one we associated with James Bond and his role as 007. While more contemporary than the models in the books, the DB5 was a luxury touring machine that featuredan aluminum six-cylinder engine that offered 282 horsepower and a top speed of 145 mph.

As you would expect, this Bond car has some cool gadgets for the agent to use. These items included machine guns, an ejector seat, and a revolving license plate. The DB5 is a car that has been used in eight films, including the most recent movie.

Aston Martin DBS

Only one Bond film features this iconic car, which was interesting considering the actor that played the role of 007 also only starred in this single film. The movie was On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, which was released in 1969. The DBS was the real-world successor to the DB6, giving us a modern appearance with a fastback style and muscular front end.

The DBS did not have a typical role in the movie, which would have been in some high-speed chase with various gadgets being used during the pursuit. Instead, this car was covered in flowers for the wedding of 007 to Tracy, who was later killed in the film.

The actor and the car never made their way to the Bond films again, although there is a cameo of the car in the corner of the Q Branch workshop in Diamonds are Forever.

Aston Martin V8 Volante

We spend nearly two decades without an Aston being at the center of the James Bond universe. Thankfully, this marriage was rekindled in 1987 with the release of The Living Daylights. In this film, we saw the Aston Martin V8 show up with 007 behind the wheel. This car was donned as the first true supercar made by the British company, and it proved that fact by beating a Ferrari in the sprint time.

As you would expect, the V8 was packed with amazing gadgets, including missiles, lasers, a head-up display, and rockets. This packaging and the fact thatthis car was a winter-spec version made for a thrilling chase sequence through the mountains.

The V8 Volante model that was introduced in this film belonged to the brand chairman at the time, Victor Gauntlett. With the introduction of this car, Q “winterizes” the car, which makes it a hardtop and brings you the two different models that were driven in this movie.

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

When the role of 007 gave us Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day, we got to see one of the most amazing supercars to ever come out of this brand. The V12 Vanquish hit the screen and offered us all the glory of the incredible speed, performance, and style that makes this car one that we would all love to drive.

The V12 Vanquish, was appropriately named, and that name was adopted to the film with camouflage that allowed the car to turn invisible. This was another car with an array of gadgets that were used to foil the plans of the villains of the film.

In the real world, the V12 Vanquish was just as amazing as itwas on the silver screen. This car is made to reach 190 mph and hit sixty mph in less than five seconds, making it a seriously fast car.

The second version of the DBS to make it to the James Bond franchise was introduced as a modern version of a classic in Casino Royale. This 2006 movie and car featured Daniel Craig behind the wheel, which was the perfect pairing for this amazing car.

Unfortunately, this car would meet an inglorious end when it rolled seven times duringa chase scene. Incidentally, this roll was a Guinness World Record at the time. There were four hand-built DBS models usedfor the film.

Aston Martin DB10

A car that was exclusively developed for the 007 movies is the DB10. This car hit the scree in 2015 in the movie Spectre, and it gave the brand and franchise a way to celebrate fifty years of working together. There were only ten of these models ever made, eight of which were used in the movie.

This car certainly had a few tricks to show us in the movie with flamethrowers that help to save the day as Bond finds himself in another chase. The seat ejector also aids in the survival of our hero before the DB10 is lost in the Tiber River.
