2016 Jaguar XF: Redesigned for Greatness

While many of us admire the Jaguar name for the excellence that is created those who drive a Jaguar model or the direct competition have had some complaints about the XF. As a fully redesigned car this one has the style we love to enjoy and has addressed any complaints we had in the past for this beautiful Jag. The shape is still highly recognizable and it’s been completely refined to give us an uncluttered dash that has the new InControl touch screen infotainment system. With a few great engine choices the XF could be the right car for you to drive if you shop in the class of midsized luxury sedans.

The Jaguar XF gives you a midsized luxury sedan that has the size and drive you want if you would like to stand out from the crowd of your typical German luxury cars. There isn’t anything missing from this car that you would find in other vehicles which makes it a great choice to be a little different from the rest. As a car that has been redesigned you will enjoy a new all-aluminum chassis and a larger interior that has been refreshed without taking away any of the beauty of the car.

Do you want a car that is fun to drive? This is the car for you. Instead of taking itself too seriously the XF gives you a wonderful feeling on the road to offer the best steering and a suspension that makes the ride exceptionally smooth and planted. You can feel confident going in and out of corners in this large sedan while using the wonderful steering system. With three driver selectable options you can enjoy Eco, Normal and Dynamic mode to have a ride that is perfect for whatever driving you plan to do.

Under the hood we see two wonderful engines that are a derivative of each other. Both are supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engines that give you what you want. The first comes in with 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque and the second is tuned up to 380 horsepower to give you a bit more power from the growling beast. The first engine is found in the Prestige, Premium and R Sport models while the boosted power beast is for the XF S model. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission that gives you paddle shifters and helps you enjoy the fuel mileage numbers of 20 city/30 hwy mpg for the RWD version and 20 city/28 hwy mpg in the AWD models.

Looking to the interior of this car we see a design that isn’t fancy or flashy. Instead it is a straightforward and simple look that will give you the feel you want that will quickly become familiar to you. The touch screen interface offers a vast quantity of controls to make for one of the best systems we can enjoy on the market. You will love the seats that offer you heating and cooling and the fact you have plenty of space inside the car to have a great ride and offer plenty of room for all your passengers as well.

Look at this car. When you walk up to it just take a minute to capture every angle, curve and feature this car offers us to ensure we have a large luxury sedan that is perfect for the ride. The curves across the hood are smooth and transition easily to the roof and back to the rear of the car. The front is gorgeous, giving us a car that is enticing to take in and gives you a look none of your neighbors will have in their driveway.

When you buy a luxury car you expect to enjoy a great deal of wonderful equipment, even at that base price. The Jaguar XF is no different. This car has dual zone climate controls, cruise control, power windows and everything you expect. You have an eight-inch screen for the InConrol touchscreen interface, start-stop technology, a rear parking camera, a 380-watt twelve speaker Meridian sound system, Jaguar Drive Control with selectable modes, three memory positions for the driver’s seat and keyless starting. The Prestige comes with heated leather seats and navigation as standard fare and the R-Sport model offers some exterior features and lane-keeping assist to help you keep the car in your lane.

Many of us don’t choose the base model often and want more equipment. The top end XF S model offers the upgraded engine the InControl Touch Pro with a larger touchscreen, a navigation system, front and rear parking sensors, a convenience package which offers soft-close doors, heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats, a Driver Assistance Package that adds adaptive cruise control, proximity cameras, traffic sign recognition, a luxury package brings in a suede headliner and other cool interior upgrades. Many of these packages are offered on the lower models as well to give us a way to have excellent extras in our Jaguar XF.

For the XF there are two features that do stand out as favorites over the rest. This car has the InControl Touch Pro system that offers us the infotainment system we want in every vehicle on the market, it really is that good. The other standout feature is the Jaguar Elite Car which offers five years/60,000 miles of scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance along with five years and unlimited miles on the Remote and Protect system.

You know a car with all these goodies has to come in at a high price, but the XF is more reasonable than you might think. The base price starts at $53,000 and the top of the line XF S starts live at just a little under $66,000. These prices beat the German luxury models by several thousand, especially when you consider their top models. You want to drive elegance, you want to drive class and the Jaguar XF is the way you will get both in one car that is made to be a lot of fun for you to drive.
