2017 Ford F-150: The Best-Seller Keeps Getting Better

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling pickup truck in the US market for many years and Ford has used that leverage to continually build their trucks to be more advanced than others on the market. This was the first truck to wear the aluminum skin to make it much lighter than it was in the past. This was also the first truck to use a new ten-speed automatic transmission to offer the added power needed for better towing and more fuel economy for you to be able to have an improved performance from the F-150 that you love to drive on the road, at the jobsite and out on the trails.

This gives you a fuel mileage of 18 city/25 hwy mpg in 2WD models and 17 city/23 hwy mpg for the 4WD versions.

Next up is the 2.7-liter twin turbocharged V6 that offers up 325 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. This model will allow you to enjoy 19 city/26 hwy mpg on 2WD models and 18 city/23 hwy mpg in the 4WD versions. Third on the list is the 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6 that pushes the power up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. This is a power beast and with the transmission you still have the enjoyment of 18 city/25 hwy in 2WD and 17 city/23 hwy mpg for the 4WD models.

Moving up to the biggest engine in the lineup we have the 5.0-liter V8 which brings in 385 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine can get a lot of work done and is one of the most trusted engines on the F-150. This beast gives you 15 city/22 hwy mpg in 2WD and 15 city/21 hwy mpg in 4WD. Finally, the Raptor engine is an improved 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6 that offers you 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. This is one of the most powerful V6 engines on the market and it uses the ten-speed automatic transmission to give you 15 city/18 hwy mpg and is only set up in 4WD.

Because this is a pickup truck there are tons of ways you can set up the truck to fit your needs. Every F-150 will have a hydroformed box frame that’s made from high strength steel and the aluminum body panels and truck bed to give you a lighter build than in older models. The options run the gambit for Ford with the ability to add deployable running boards, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, inflatable rear seatbelts, blind spot detection, a voice activated navigation system, real time traffic updates, text message alerts, and a host of great luxury features at the top of the lineup with the Platinum or King Ranch versions.
