Concepts Making their Mark on Hyundai

Recently we’ve seen a couple of amazing concept cars from the Hyundai brand that is going to become a pair of amazing models that will give us the style and sophistication we want or the inspiration to make some of the current models we see better than what they are now. These two concepts are the Prophecy EV and the 45. These two models are extremely different but have the features that we can certainly see offered when its time for the new models of the Hyundai vehicles that we see on the roads.

The Prophecy has an Interesting Introduction

When Hyundai showed us the new Prophecy EV Concept, it was labeled the “ultimate automotive form” and it showed up with controls that cam via a joystick and offered an engaging style to let us see what Hyundai was thinking in terms of an EV sports car. All we received when this car arrived was a full gallery of photos, but no statistics or information to let us know what the plan was going forward. Thankfully, a new batch of photos, a video, and information has emerged so that we can have a better discussion.

Hyundai Concepts Making Their Mark

The two extremely different concept models have already put their mark on the Hyundai lineup. While the Prophecy EV is a sportscar with a joystick and an electric powertrain, the 45 is a hatchback that offered the style you expect. The newest version of the Hyundai Elantra already has some of the design pieces of the 45 Concept to add more style to the mix. The Prophecy with its four-door coupe-style will likely show us design elements and technology that will show up in future Hyundai models to give us more of the features we want to see.

The First for a Hyundai Platform

The 45 and Prophecy are the first two Hyundai models to ride on top of a new dedicated electric vehicle platform. This platform is called the Electric Global Modular Platform or E-GMP. While we don’t know what the battery, drivetrain, or charging specifications are, the compact design of this electric platform allows the Prophecy to have a swooping shape that’s low to the ground and the 45 to have a short size that makes it look right as a small hatchback that you might see yourself driving around town.

Looking Inside the Prophecy

The interior of the Hyundai Prophecy EV Concept shows a pair of integrated joysticks rather than a steering wheel. The right-hand joystick is in the center console and the left-hand joystick is attached to the door. This system is called the Intuitive Human Interface to free up space on the dashboard and allow for a more comfortable seating position. Most of the interior controls are handled by the joysticks to minimize the distractions you might face as the driver. Look for more of the qualities from the Prophecy and 45 to make it to the Hyundai lineup in the future. We might not see the joysticks, but we will certainly see the style.
