Volkswagen has been building the Beetle since the end of World War II and it has been a car that symbolizes much for different areas of the world.

This car symbolized a new hope, an affordable choice, and it became the single highest-selling name in the market, followed by the Ford Model T. One of the busiest plants in the world that have been producing the VW Beetle is located in Puebla, Mexico. This plant has been building the Beetle since it opened in the middle of the 1960s and it will be the last plant to build this car and offer it on the market.

Three Endings of the Beetle have been Seen

The Mexican heritage has a unique relationship with the dead and the spirits that can be felt in the culture. This makes for an interesting item of discussion when you consider the fact that the Puebla plant will now participate in the third ending of the Beetle. When the original model died, this plant kept on churning out models, and when the next version ended in 2003, the plant was ready to begin to build the New Beetle that we see today. Even though this plant has been building these cars for a long time, the 2019 model year will be the final year of this car.

An Icon Ends

It’snot really a surprise that the Beetle will no longer be built by Volkswagen, this car transformed into something that we didn’t understand as well as we did with the original model. Moving the engine to the front and changing the cooling system changed the entire personality of this car, which has since offered dwindling sales since the newest model was created. While the original was popular and found its way into our hearts forever, the two latest iterations of the Beetle never gained the cult-like following of the first model.

A Move Forward for Volkswagen

The lack of sales and the new direction for the brand make it an easier choice to end the Beetle for good. Volkswagen is currently working on the new all-electric I. D. buzz which is making the auto show circuit. This car appears to be a model that has some similarities in size and shape to the Beetle and it will fill the space the Beetle will vacate. VW has been working on a variety of EV models to give us more of the environmentally-friendly models we want.

Say Goodbye to the Beetle

Many of us have driven a VW Beetle at one time in our history and the simplicity of the first model of this car was enough to keep it on the roads for many years. It wasn’t unheard of for a Beetle to last more than three decades or to be customized to be a dune buggy or offer a unique look and feel. Eventually, this car will be gone for good and we won’t see any around at all, but right now, we can still find this car for a reasonable price, and maybe now is the time to grab them up if you don’t want to say goodbye.
