The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Drops the Top on Luxury

Mercedes Benz recently revealed the all-new CLE as a replacement for the two-door version of the C-Class and E-Class models. For right now, they have details for the CLE Coupe, but there is a convertible version coming too. This cabriolet will give drivers the ability to drop the roof with just the touch of a button. Want to know more? Take a look.

What Will You Find Under the CLE’s Hood?

Mercedes Benz kicks things off with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the CLE 300 4Matic. It churns out 255 horsepower and gets 295 pound-feet of torque. This is a great start, but it’s just the beginning. There’s also an electric motor integrated into the powertrain that gets you an extra 23 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.

If you want an extra boost, the CLE 450 4Matic will get you there with its 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder with 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain also has an electronic motor as part of the setup, with a 48-volt hybrid system for short bursts of extra power.

A Cabin Filled with Luxury

Sitting down in the Mercedes Benz CLE means sitting in luxury. It comes standard with heated front sport seats covered in MB-Tex synthetic leather. The options list includes features such as ventilated and massaging front seats and leather upholstery. If you need to pack up for a weekend road trip, the trunk has 14.8 cubic feet of space, which is larger than the outgoing C-Class sedan, and the power trunk closer makes it easy to pack up and get out of town.

Infotainment for Everyone

Both front seat passengers will face a dashboard in the Mercedes Benz CLE that has two large screens. An 11.9-inch center display screen and a massive 12.3-inch digital dashboard for the driver. The CLE infotainment system runs MBUX, with a voice assistant you can just talk to using regular language. The new system offers “routines” too. This means that you can set what you want the system to do under certain conditions. For example, on cold days the seat heaters will automatically come on.

Let’s Talk About the Convertible

There’s not a whole lot of information available on the convertible yet, but Mercedes Benz has said that it is a power roof that takes only 20 seconds to lower or raise. You don’t even have to pull over and stop to do it. It will work as long as you are not traveling faster than 37 mph. The car also has a power roller divider. This automatically separates the top when it’s folded down from the cargo area. But you do want to keep in mind that when you put the top down, it uses up quite a bit of your cargo space. You’ll see that it shrinks from 13.6 cubic feet to 10.4 cubic feet. You’ll want to pack lightly if you’re heading out in the convertible, but it will be worth it.
