The 2023 Jeep Wrangler comes in three different flavors to give you some excellent choices when you want to drive a fantastic off-road SUV.
The latest version of the Wrangler still comes in the standard two-door version and Unlimited four-door models. Recently, Jeep also added the 4xe plug-in hybrid versions to the mix as well. These three flavors make it easy to find the right Wrangler for your off-road experiences. Regardless of the model chosen, you’ll have one of the most incredible vehicles to every hit the market.
Let’s learn a little about each version so you can figure out which one to drive.
Going basic could be the right answer
The basic look and feel of a two-door Wrangler is hard to beat. This must start with the Sport trim to give you the impressive features you want when it’s time to head out for a ride on the trails. You can still remove the top and doors and fold down the windshield when you get behind the wheel. The two-door model comes in five trim levels to give you the desired equipment. As expected, the Wrangler comes with a standard 4WD system, but this system is more advanced in the Rubicon model, offering added capability.
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler two-door has three different powertrains. The standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine delivers 285 horsepower to the wheels. This power is routed through either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 270 horsepower for the Wrangler. This engine only uses the automatic transmission. The third engine brings a 3.6-liter V6 and mild hybrid system to the mix to produce 375 horsepower and make this Jeep SUV more efficient than the base model. Which powertrain will you choose for your Wrangler?
Add more doors for impressive Wrangler fun
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the four-door version of this venerable off-road SUV. This model has nine trims, which is down from twelve from last year. The base version of the Wrangler Unlimited comes with air conditioning, which is a first for the Wrangler. This model has more interior space to make it better for family driving on the trails. You can still remove the top and doors and fold the windshield to enjoy the open-air feeling that we associate with the Wrangler. This model could easily be the one you want to drive and enjoy.
The four-door version of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler has four powertrains for you to choose from. The base model is the same as the base version in the two-door Wrangler. Moving up to the rest of the powertrain lineup, you’ll find the same turbocharged 4-cylinder model and mild-hybrid V6. In addition to these engines, the fourth addition is a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 engine that produces 260 horsepower but much more torque than the rest of the lineup. Of course, if you opt for the Rubicon 392, you’ll have a powerful Hemi V8 engine under the hood, but this engine is only offered for this model.
Going for the 4xe model brings hybridization to your off-road adventures
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe offers the benefits of world-class off-roading and hybrid technology in one amazing vehicle. The powertrain delivers 21 miles of electric driving, which is extremely low by today’s standards but still an improvement over the inefficient Jeep Wrangler powertrains of the past. The 4xe Rubicon has the most impressive package of off-road hardware in the Wrangler lineup. This Jeep off-road SUV could qualify for the federal tax credit, which is something new for the Jeep brand.
The Wrangler 4xe comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a pair of electric motors, and a 400-volt battery pack. This allows the SUV to produce 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels through Jeep’s Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system and Dana 44 heavy-duty axles to make this one of the most formidable off-roaders in the market. Going from the Sahara to the Rubicon models means you add more robust underbody protection and heavy-duty steel rock rails. This hybrid Jeep off-roader could be a great choice when you want the most advanced Wrangler available.
Which Jeep Wrangler is right for you?
With three great options in the 2023 Jeep Wrangler lineup, you’ve got a lot to think about. Do you want to choose from the five two-door trims, the nine models of the Unlimited lineup, or enjoy either of the two hybrid trims for the 4xe model? There’s a Wrangler that’s right for you; take a ride and find out which one it is.
